I grew up with HP, waiting for the next book. I regularly read them again in English. I think that's HP which gave me the taste of writing and fantasy. Without HP, I don't know if I'd have read Tolkien, Howard, Lovecraft, Herbert… In fact, I didn't like reading before discovering HP.

That's a pity that lots of fantasy fans who used to like HP changed when they discovered Tolkien, Lovecraft, Morcook or Robert Jordan. That's a different kind of fantasy so I think it's a shame to deny it. Besides, for lots of people like me, it was the front door in the strange worlds.
