  • Something to tell the world!

I'm Anya. I'm trying to learn french, and I really like history, especially history that usually is not told. I really like talking to and meeting people from different places, especially if you can speak some french with me. I'm really into vintage fashion (especially 30s-50s, but any time period is cool),and I also love to sew.

I don't typically initiate conversations on here because I'm not super outgoing, and I try to say hi to people, but if you want to chat feel free to reach out I promise I'm nice.

  • Favourite books/authors/films

My favorite books are Aristotle and Dante Discover the secrets of the universe, akata witch and almost all rick riordan books. I mostly read YA, but lately I've been reading some classics etc
I also listen to a lot of music, so here are some artists I like (in no particular order)
    ~girl in red
    ~Mother Mother
    ~Jake Wesley Rogers
    ~Rina Sawayama
    ~The Beatles
    ~Taylor Swift
    ~Conan Gray
    ~Maneskin
    ~King Princess
    ~Queen

  • Cities and countries I have visited

I have been to Croatia, Germany, Portugal, Denmark, and Canada. (and of course the USA) I really like going to new places and meeting new people.

  • My interests in other cultures

I am interested in how schools work in different countries, and what it is like for kids, because often when culture is discussed or you visit a country, it is mostly the adult culture you see. I am also interested in most things about other cultures.

  • Living abroad for one year

I would probably like to go to France or Quebec, because I think emersion would be a good way to work on my French. I would go anywhere though.

  • Making the world a better place

I think that we should all work toward using renewable engergy, and transition away from carbon.

  • Improving the school system

I wish that language was taught in more US schools starting in Kindergarten. Right now, we start in 7th grade, way to late. I also wish the math they taught us was more useful. My grandmother has a magnet that says "I am so glad I learned about parallelograms in high school math instead of how to do my taxes, it comes in handy during parallelogram season" I think that illustrates it well

I also wish good education was more accessible in lower income areas, so people didn't need to have money to learn well.

  • A career without obstacles

I want to be a Journalist of Newspaper/Magazine editor. I love writing, and informing others. The person who inspires me to want to do this is Nellie Bly. She was an investigative reporter, who changed a lot. She went undercover in an asylum and wrote a piece called "Ten Days In a Madhouse" and helped change conditions.

  • I recently learnt...

I've been learning to sew and knit recently, and it's really fun to be able to make things yourself, and have a vision in your head and make it come true.
