  • Something to tell the world!

I'm just looking for anyone to have a chat with.
    Any shared interests?
    Speak English?

  • I always enjoy talking about...

How about a round of random questions?
I also love hearing a good story from someone. It doesn't have to have the makings of a novel. Even if your just bitching about something that happened at work.

  • Cities and countries I have visited

Short trips to England, Scotland, Germany.
I was in the US for a summer.
I was in Australia for about a year.

  • My proudest accomplishments

    Completing this list of questions.
    Quitting smoking.

  • My interests in other cultures

Nothing specific. Just looking for a chat

  • I'm an expert at...

Nothing so far, but I'm working on that.

  • A personal challenge

I used to say quitting smoking, but maybe changing my diet was harder.

  • Favourite books/authors/films

    Too many to name...
I like Sci-fi/fantasy, comedy, thriller in both books and movies. Occasionally non-fiction for books.
I don't read that much but I listen to audiobooks regularly.

  • Living abroad for one year

A few years ago I wanted to go to either South Korea or Japan for work. Teaching English as a foreign language. In the end I didn't go, which I sort of regret now.

  • Making the world a better place

Everybody needs to be more like me
I'm joking of course. Sometimes I think that's what peoples answers to these kind of questions boil down to.
I don't know how to make the world a better place, Maybe with free t-shirts.

  • Personal skills

Public speaking. I was actually a member of a group called Toastmasters, which practiced public speaking. It was fun.
I'm not sure how well that skill holds up today though.

  • Childhood pleasures

    Saturday.
There's Saturday morning cartoons. No school. It was one day of the week I got to have what I wanted for dinner.

    Also, dinosaurs.

  • I recently learnt...

Can't think of anything. I guess I learnt that I need to do more learning

  • 10 years from now

I'm not sure where I see myself. I wonder if we'll all be living half our lives in virtual reality in 10 (or 20) years.
    Just please not under lockdown.

  • I'm excited about...

    Meeting more people online

  • Something uncommon about me

    My fingerprints

  • It was better before

We all look back and think of better or simpler times, but they did have their own problems. I look back now and 2019 feels that way.
But my parents generation bought their houses much easier.

  • It is better now

Something that's improved is technology. Communication, computer games etc.

  • I wish people knew more about...

Maybe their own point of view.
I think people often have opinions or beliefs handed to them by others without questioning them. They might go years without wondering why they believe what they believe.
BTW I don't think I'm the only one who is immune to this! But I think if your beliefs are important to you then maybe you should question them.

  • As a child, I wish...

I wish I hadn't worried what others thought of me. After all they're only kids.
I also wish I'd actually done my homework and studied occasionally.

  • A career without obstacles

If I could pick any career I'd probably become an engineer of some kind. Just because I have a bit of a technical mind.

  • My parents and me

I used to believe I was very different from my parents, but the older I get the more I think I'm like my parents. Both my mother and father.

  • My feeling about the future

I try to be optimistic about the future. As a sci=fi fan I look to the future and try to think of some of the cool technology (being used responsibly).
There is a sort of creeping authoritarianism around the world that makes me feel not so optimistic.
Try to stay focused on the positive stuff.

  • My opinion on human nature

I'm not sure being good and being selfish are mutually exclusive.
I think that good selfless acts are rare.
When we're good to someone it's kind of expected to be repaid. We're usually within our own social circles. It's like we're proving ourselves to be a valuable member of our group.

  • I feel concerned about...

That my laptop battery will run out before I find the charger

  • A trick or piece of advice

    Don't believe everything you're told.

  • Life regrets

I regret things all the time. Maybe most regrettable is all the time I've spent regretting things.

  • Improving the school system

"It's a miracle that curiosity survives formal education." Einstein
I'd like to see lessons move at the speed of the children learning them, rather than the speed of the school system.

  • Over or underrated

    Facebook is overrated.
    AdBlock is underrated.
