I'm a 60-year-old male, and I live in Mechelen, Belgium .

I speak English, Dutch, some French, and a tiny bit of Thai.

• Cities and countries I have visited

  I've been visiting many place during my life, but the most interesting places where I've lost my heart (home is where the heart is) are Thailand (my second home), Rome (where I've found the best pizza restaurant all over the world), London (a bouncing place), Paris (please visit the Louvre), Prague (for the art lover), Vienna (romantic touch of Austria), Crete (hire a motorcycle there!), and many more. Still I want to visit more places and I search for friends from all over the world who can recommend me places and be able to tell me why I would prefer those over others.

• My proudest accomplishments

  My daughter. But I am aware that I am biased ... No seriously, there's so much to be proud of but mostly it's all about my family!

• My interests in other cultures

  I'm a traveling man so you can understand other cultures (but also my own culture) fascinate me. Although I 'm atheist I have interest in religions because it has so much to do with how people live and behave. Also art and architecture is very fascinating, and this in the past and present.

• I'm an expert at...

  Comics, especially these of Europe (read Belgium-Netherlands-France) I also like to cook and I've made (still making) myself a cookbook with recipes I've learned during travelling (and internet) and wich I customize to my liking. I also know a lot about history.

• A personal challenge

  We've had a very difficult financial time and thereby the family life has been come under pressure, but I've gone through by will power, continue to believe that everything would be come good , patience and refuse to argue, hard work and making time for the family. Thanks to this commitment, we are now really well and the future is bright.

• Favourite books/authors/films

  To many books - to many movies but the one I'm thinking of right now are Das Boot (movie) and De Droomkoningin (Maarten 't Hart - I don't know if this one ever has been translated - it's Dutch)

• Living abroad for one year

  There's so much to do... because I've got plans to spend a lot of time in Thailand (even go live there) I will not say Thailand. Mmm, maybe half a year in Rome and some time in Paris and London...

• I always enjoy talking about...

  Comics, of course, but I know not to many people like to talk about this. Luckely my interests are plenty... politics, religion, animals, books, movies, culture, art, music...

• Making the world a better place

  I'm kind of a rebel and I believe we only can make the world a better place if we kill all politics and replace them with scienticist... but would this be really the solution?

• Personal skills

  I really know how to cook and make a good dish... I know a lot of comics. I also good in giving advice although I dare to say the most advice I give is not to follow it but to think about it...

• Childhood pleasures

  My childhood is filled with happy memories and music...

  The last thing I learned was to be carefull with hot plates... burned my fingers!!!!

• 10 years from now

  I hope to live in Thailand... from there I want to explore the world and live happily ever after...

  my daughter who wants to follow art education and apparently really want to study for it...

• It was better before

  I'm getting older... the music used to be so much better than these days... lol

  My sense of humor and the way I see life... both can be strange

  medical care in general ... people are not held stupid no more. But so many things are improved... like social media. Unfortunately, with much good is also common bad ...

• I wish people knew more about...

  History. Understanding history could make you wise enough not to do the same mistakes...

• As a child, I wish...

  When I was a young boy I wanted to be rich and change the world to be a better place but now I wouldn't change a bit... If I would change anything maybe I wouldn't be as happy as I am now...

• A career without obstacles

  testing of mattresses as night work or pingpong balls manufacturer... Maybe there is someone so silly to pay me to continually travelling just to tell him/her where there are good places to visit? During the holidays I would stay at home ... lol

• My parents and me

  My father's been 26 years dead (deceased on my birthday then) and the band that I had with him was not very good. He has me especially learned how not to do things ... My mother is now 97 years old and lives in with me. We take care for her though she's reliant upon others ' care. She does not remember anything and most of the time she thinks I'm her brother, but I can give it a place...

• My feeling about the future

  Future is not ours to see but I believe there's a place for my daughter and she will do good and really? That's all that matters...

• My opinion on human nature

  the worst beast on Earth is the man and I am sure of that. It's hard to stay convinced in the good of man as they do so much evil. On the other hand, I am still surrounded by good people (perhaps because I've banned the bad)

  Somebody who died very young before I could tell her I loved her...

• Improving the school system

  More attention to live together with other people ... more attention to language and culture. ... more attention to things in everyday life ... more attention to traffic

  politicians are quickly overrated while we underestimated ourself to often
